Our Piano Moving Process, 10 Steps to a Successful Move

  • New City provides a team of four movers and positions two at each side of the piano.
  • Inspect the piano to make sure it is safe to be picked up.
  • Examine for any existing nicks, scratches, gouges or chips with the customer, then at the destination we reexamine to make sure no damage occurred during transportation.
  • Before the piano can be moved through any doorways or stairs our professionals have to remove the pedals and lyre. After this when the piano is put on its side, it will be narrow enough to fit through a door.
  • Now our professionals wrap the entire piano in new clean furniture pads to ensure that no damage occurs to the finish.
  • Then the piano can be lifted and set up on a stand-up dolly to hold it so that the first leg can be removed.
  • Once the first leg is off the piano is ready to be tipped on its side.
  • After the piano is up on its side, the two remaining legs can be safely removed.
  • Paying close attention to detail we exit the home, being cautious while rolling the dolly over thresholds and door jambs.
  • Placing the piano into your new location, reassembling your prized possession, and doing a post move inspection.
