Moving Tips

• Keep all important documents on your person during the course of the move. Packing and moving can be hectic, and it is important that personal files like health records, birth certificates, and passports are kept with you so they don’t get mixed up in the shuffle.

• Anything that can be boxed should be boxed! The more loose items you have, the longer your move will take.

• Clothes, towels, and other soft pieces should be wrapped in plastic so they won’t get dirty (a shopping bag or trash bag will do just fine) and can be stored in the bottom of wardrobe boxes during the move.

• Make a path for the movers so that items can be easily walked to the truck.

• Consolidate boxes into one room so that they can be quickly loaded. Each mover can carry up to 6 boxes at a time with our equipment, so this step well make the move fly by!

• Electronics should be packed in original boxes whenever possible. If you don’t the original packaging just tell your crew foreman and he will take care of packing the piece safely. Stereo’s are best packed in Dish Pack boxes that have a double layer of corrugated cardboard.

• Direct Traffic! Your crew will happily place items in their appropriate rooms, so be sure to let them know where you want things.

• Keep in mind that your crew is prohibited from disconnecting or reconnecting any cable, water, or electrical lines, and will not be able to remove or re-mount wall mounted televisions.

• Family photos, videos, negatives and slides should be put into separate boxes and not combined with other items from the household.

• If you have pets, make sure that they are out of the way so they stay safe during the move. You keep them in carriers, or close the door to one room while the rest of the house is being loaded up!
