In the past year, New City Moving has established itself as a trusted leader in Chicago moving. With over 1600 successfully completed moves in our first year alone, we are currently the fastest-growing moving company in the state of Illinois.

Our Chicago headquarters is located in Bucktown at the corner of Damen and Fullerton. We employ a staff of individuals from diverse backgrounds who pride themselves on being knowledgeable and approachable. Here's a brief introduction to the team that will be helping you with your move:

Brian Slater, Owner

Owner Brian Slater is hardly a newcomer to the industry. With 7 years' experience as a sales manager and dispatcher, he is familiar with all aspects of the services New City provides. Brian considers himself a seasoned veteran first and an entrepreneur second. This distinction ensures that he takes extra care of his employees and customers alike. Brian is a Chicago native who enjoys hiking, skiing, and touring the windy city on his moped.

Sarah-Jayne Ashenhurst, Sales Manager

A graduate of New York University, Sarah-Jayne is a recent Chicago transplant. Originally hailing from Macomb, she has extensive experience in customer service and sales management. She's brought with her the pragmatism, attention to detail, and accessibility necessary to oversee New City's recent explosion in sales while still making sure that our customers are treated as individuals. Sarah-Jayne enjoys camping and putting together IKEA furniture.

Pat Kirby, Operations Manager

Originally hailing from Ukrainian Village, Pat has six years' experience in Chicago's moving industry as a mover and crew foreman for some of the city's major van lines. Knowing all facets of what New City's customers experience allows him to administer a dedicated staff of over 25 movers and personally oversee each move that we perform. In scarce spare time that he has, Pat enjoys cooking and writing.

Melody Latham, Sales Representative

Melody has over five years' customer service experience. She also spent time as a mentor and programming director for students at the University of Southern Mississippi. The individualized care that she learned from this experience is consistently reflected in the care she shows for her customers here at New City. Melody enjoys podcasting, cooking, and exercise.

Stephanie Murphy, Sales Representative

A native Chicagoan, Stephanie had seven years' experience promoting not-for-profit organizations. With her recent move into the private sector, Stephanie is excited to extend that knowledge and passion to getting the word out about New City Moving. Stephanie is a dog person who enjoys literature and the Bears.

Nick Scelsi, In-Home Estimator

Hailing from the far northwest side of Chicago is New City’s on site surveyor extraordinaire, Nick!   A cornerstone of New City Moving, with over 6 years of experience in the moving industry under his belt; Nick meticulously surveys each scene beforehand to ensure that you have as smooth of a move as possible.  When Nick isn’t out and about shaking hands and kissing babies on behalf of New City Moving he likes his music loud, his cars in stick-shift, his cheeseburgers with bacon, and his walks on the beach long.

Anthony Di Naso, In-Home Estimator

Anthony has been in the moving & storage industry for over a decade working with some of the industries major van lines. He has worked in all areas of the industry which allows him to have a unique vision for every move. With his experience, he can assist New City customers by providing detail and organization with the understanding that every move is different.  Anthony is a Chicago area native who loves to cook, play guitar and watch his favorite Chicago sports teams. Nothing gives Anthony more joy than spending time with his son Nico.

Gwen Pentland, Sales Assistant

Gwen moved to Chicago 15 years ago from the wild west of Wyoming, bringing with her considerable customer service and administrative experience.  While working in occupations as varied as a Girl Scout camp program director to Registrar at a Chicago career college; Gwen has developed a dedication to providing the best customer service to each individual customer.   A confessed foodie, Gwen enjoys creating new recipes, answering trivia questions, and endlessly tinkering with her Fantasy Football line-up.
